Cockroaches - These represent one of the most serious risks to public health because they spread diseases such as gastro- enteritis, diarrhoea, and salmonella, which contribute to food poisoning.
They all carry filth from refuse and disease from to food preparations areas and contaminate the food we eat.
They are mainly nocturnal and come out to explore their environment and look for food.
Cockroaches can also climb walls and one particular species carries its egg capsule and protects it, by carrying it just before hatching which makes it harder to combat against and treat the infestation.
Different types of cockroach include German cockroach, Oriental cockroach, American cockroach and Australian cockroach, the first two are the most common are smaller and more likely to be found in this country, whereas the others are more tropical species. |
